Former Bucks "Super Sid" and Jack Sikma headed to Hall of Fame

Former Bucks

Jones joins players Maurice Cheeks, Julius Erving and Moses Malone plus coach Billy Cunningham as member of the 1983 Sixers team now in the Hall of Fame.

Moncrief was drafted fifth overall in the 1979 NBA Draft to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Also selected this year were seven-time All-Star Jack Sikma, Bill Fitch, Bobby Jones, Al Artles, Paul Westfall, Charles Cooper and Karl Braun.

Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for as Brooklyn Nets visit: Before last night's game, Adam McGee previewed the Bucks' season series finale with the Brooklyn Nets.

The honorees were announced Saturday in Minneapolis before the Final Four. "The Class of 2019 is brimming with those who have had a significant historical impact on the game we love". The Charlotte native was selected to an All-Defensive team (ABA and NBA) a total of 11 times.

After putting in players who could pour in the points but were not so hot on the defensive end (George Gervin?), the Naismith voters might have felt it was time to reward a player noted for defense (although four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace was bypassed), even though Jones was certainly a contributor on the offensive end.

The class will be enshrined at the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, on September 6.

Westphal was a five-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA first team in three seasons.

When asked in 2016 by The Undefeated about his key for working for the Warriors so long, Attles said, "They haven't caught up to me yet".

To be elected, North American and Women's Committee finalists must receive 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee for election into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sikma is a seven-time NBA All-Star and NBA champion.

In addition to his National Basketball Association accomplishments, Westphal is in the USC Hall of Fame, Pac 12 Hall of Honor and the Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor. He played eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, two with the Charlotte Hornets and six with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Usually, the closer to the end of a player's career the better their chances are to make the Hall of Fame, as their play is still fresh in people's minds. Prior to the Nuggets joining the NBA, Jones was named to the ABA All-Rookie Team (1975), ABA All-Defensive Team twice (1975, 1976) and ABA All-Star Team (1976).

Sikma led his team to the NAIA Tournament at Kemper Arena three times, including in 1977 when he averaged 15 rebounds in three games.

Attles played for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors before coaching the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors for 14 seasons, including the franchise's title-winning 1974-75 campaign. The five-time All-Star died in 2010 at age 82. He was a member of Philadelphia's championship team in 1983.
