Watford players complain as referee overrules offside call on Raheem Sterling goal

Another weekend and another offside call that confused the Premier League officials, although for Raheem Sterling this one turned into the first of three goals for an Englishman who is having the season of his life in driving on Manchester City's relentless late season march. This season, I haven't criticised the referees and I am not going to do so today.

"We've got one trophy already and the most important thing is not how many goals I am scoring, it's how many trophies we lift". We know we're strong - we're contenders.

"I guess we are going to drop points, because it is nearly impossible if we go ahead in all competitions not to drop points", said the 48-year-old. Game by game. The players know we are closer - okay, after the global break - one month and a half.

"There are other games it was the same - an offside goal and they score a goal, some games with the diving, with penalties - so the VAR is helping us".

Sterling netted a hat-trick in a second-half period of just 13 minutes 12 seconds.

Guardiola kept Sterling's feet on the ground by saying "he can do better" after a match that was level until a controversial opener just after half-time.

Replays showed Sterling was in an offside position when Aguero chested down the ball. Press Association Sport understands Watford are monitoring the situation following reports they could also take action.

"But it was a nervous few seconds waiting for him to make the decision, but I was happy to see him give it". I was hoping my goal didn't get cancelled out.

Sterling completed his treble with a smart finish, but the way the England worldwide opened the scoring brought with it the Premier League's latest offside controversy.

The brace ensured the England striker became the first player to achieve a three-figure tally of goals for the Foxes since Gary Lineker. No, not at a chance!

Meanwhile, it the supercomputer previously predicted that Liverpool would emerge win Premier League champions at the end of the season. It is a hard decision as there are many things for the officials to consider.

Javi Gracia made seven changes to his Watford starting eleven but the visitors proved miserly opponents as they frustrated Pep Guardiola's defending champions during the opening 45 minutes.

The decision came after his attempt to take on Liverpool at Anfield ended in a 5-0 loss last week and perhaps was also influenced by Watford's FA Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace next week.

UEFA said it was introduced to justify decisions made by the referees in the last-16 matches so far.
