Watch Ben Askren refuse Dana White handshake at UFC 235 weigh-ins

Jon Jones spent the better part of 25 minutes educating Anthony Smith on the vast gulf that exists between good and great.

Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be headlining against Anthony Smith, a versatile journeyman on a three-fight win streak.

Smith to his credit has power, is aggressive in his stand-up and won't be dwarfed or intimidated by Jones' stature or quality. Is Usman the fighter to finally break the Woodley wall? Woodley was a -200 favourite so the line movement suggests there is buzz about an upset.

Jones vs Smith will be one of the premier events by UFC in this year.

Jones finished uneventfully and remained unbeaten since 2009, winning a decision for the fifth time in his last seven fights.

Covington shouted at Usman through the microphone "The real champ is here, the real champ...your going to get knocked out Saturday night scrub your still number two in the world". Few champions have defended their titles the way that Robbie Lawler did, who was involved in some absolute wars and handled himself as a man would in the cage win or lose. He watches every single fight for every single UFC card and does extensive research before each event.

The rest of the card offers an intriguing matchup between former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and undefeated wrestling powerhouse Ben Askren. These two 135-pounders are extremely fast paced fighters with slick boxing techniques.

The outspoken Askren (19-0), a former U.S. Olympic wrestler, joined the UFC late previous year after a decade fighting in other promotions and sparring with UFC President Dana White on social media. Lawler lost his title to Woodley and Askren is Woodley's training partner.

Outside of a once in a lifetime knockout blow, however, I don't see how Smith can win this bout. I have to stomp [welterweight contender Colby Covington] and I gotta go up there and snag that middleweight belt. For instance, Woodley's last challenger, Darren Till was a known striker. They want to see us bowing, some honour, some integrity and respect. I still can't believe the UFC on ESPN. The fighters could not be more than 205 pounds one day prior to the bout. Given his reputation as one of the best MMA fighters ever, Jones is now a heavy betting favorite. When everything is settled, I know he's tough. But what will likely go down as a somewhat forgotten footnote in history was how close Jones came to losing the title in disastrous fashion at UFC 232 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"I don't understand the science behind it, but (Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director) Bob Bennett has been doing this for a long time", Smith said when asked about the positive tests revealed this week.

"I think it left on decent terms, not awful terms". Facing him will prove to be the acid test for Askren, who will be thrust right into the top ranking positions if he's able to force his smothering wrestling game on the former world champion on Saturday night.

I'm picking Zabit to win this fight.
