Venezuela's Guaido sets aid entry date amid anti-Maduro protests

Humanitarian groups estimate that millions of Venezuelans have left the country to escape the misery in the country because of the political and economic crises.

An aid convoy supplied by the United States and Colombia arrived in the Colombian border town of Cucuta last week, where it is being held in warehouses.

While the remark by Russia's top diplomat might sound over-emotional, various Washington officials indeed weren't shy to suggest what should happen next to Venezuela.

Thousands of people demonstrated in the streets across the country on Tuesday, demanding that Maduro allowed aid into Venezuela.

'The so-called humanitarian aid is just a media show, ' Mr Barrera, who represents the city of San Cristobal, told MailOnline.

"Venezuela is a country that has dignity, and the United States has meant to create a humanitarian crisis in order to justify a military intervention, 'humanitarian.' And this is part of that show", he said in an interview with the BBC that aired Tuesday. What do we want?

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Venezuela had difficulty shipping its oil after the latest U.S. sanctions, with oil output dropping and oil tankers lining up while the government was looking for buyers. "They hate us, they belittle us, because they only believe in their own interests, and in the interests of the United States", he said. "We are not a country of beggars". Britain stopped the sale of our gold for example. And the people support our Bolivarian socialist revolution'.

"We have asked the U.N. and the world to promote the lifting of sanctions and to get rid of the blockade against Venezuela", Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza told a news conference on Tuesday, after meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Some 15 per cent of children have malnutrition.

The Venezuela conflict has fed into a wider geopolitical struggle.

USA supplies were among the first delivered to a collection point established in the Colombian border town of Cucuta.

For his supporters, Guaido appeared to be something of a rockstar, as they desperately tried to take selfies and cheered emphatically every time he spoke or his name was mentioned.

"We have nearly 300,000 Venezuelans who will die if the aid doesn't enter".

'This so-called humanitarian aid will do nothing to help the people. "We're doing well, but we need to finish this with victory".

TASS reported from Caracas that the appeal to let humanitarian cargoes to the country will become the main slogan of the rally on February 12 dedicated to Youth Day in Venezuela.

'We could never let that happen, ' he told MailOnline.

"And the Central Bank of Venezuela is respected".

'We demand that these countries give us back our resources'. However, the Venezuelan army blocked and took over the protection the bridge across which the cargoes could be delivered to Venezuela.

Wearing camouflage uniforms and brandishing automatic weapons the troops have orders to stop by force anyone trying to move the containers and fuel tanker that form a blockage against trucks carrying aid.

If he accepts the aid, he's acknowledging that there is a humanitarian crisis in the country, which is something that he has consistently denied. He has called for volunteers to distribute the aid to Venezuela's needy.

On Venezuela's border with Colombia, smaller opposition protests formed.
