Trump may not even be a free person in 2020: Warren

Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) suggested that President Donald Trump may be jailed by the time election day in 2020 rolls around.

By entering the 2020 race, Warren joined what is expected to be a very crowded list of candidates that already includes California Sen.

Warren officially announced over the weekend that she was running for president.

"What happens in 2020 is going to determine the direction of our nation, the direction of our people", she said, noting that America is experiencing a "dangerous moment".

Warren has faced strong criticism for her claims of Native American ancestry, especially from tribal leaders who have ripped her attempts to confirm that she has some Native American ancestry via a DNA test as a "mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring tribal governments and their citizens".

She was scheduled to travel later in the day to New Hampshire, home of the nation's first primary, where Ms Warren could have an advantage as a neighbouring-state resident with high name recognition.

"Senator Warren did not make a surprise visit to the NCAI conference today", a spokeswoman told CNN, "although it is my understanding that she spoke at the National Indian Women Honor Luncheon".

'The agenda is enormous and the fights will be tough, ' Warren said.

"This is a story that she did not want in this launch", said John Cluverius, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

When asked to elaborate, Warren said: "Come on, how many investigations are there now?" Such attacks didn't work for Hillary and they won't work for Warren. "I never used it to advance my career". I am in that fight all the way.

"4,000 Native Americans died on the Trail of Tears due to forced relocations under the Andrew Jackson administration". Still, about as many Democrats said they'd be at least somewhat likely to support Warren as said the same of Harris or Sanders.

Warren tried in her speech to appeal to a broad ethnic coalition, saying, "We must not allow those with power to weaponize hatred and bigotry to divide us".

Warren, however, has been dealing with the fallout from a serious scandal that some say impugns her credibility and personal code of ethics.

She will also need to win over female voters, which might explain the highly unusual - and somewhat risky - decision to include a story about potty-training her baby daughter.

President Donald Trump continues to hit Warren on the issue, mocking her with a racial slur and recently tweeting about "the TRAIL" in what some viewed as a reference to Native American genocide.
