Leeds United youngster Clarke taken to hospital after falling ill

Clarke's displays have managed to catch the attention of a number of heavy-hitters in the Premier League with reports last month claiming that London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were monitoring the 18-year-old.

The incident caused a 12 minute delay to the game.

Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed that the club's teenage winger Jack Clarke is heading home from hospital to rest after suffering an illness during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

Leeds boss Bielsa told reporters that Clarke seemed to be in better condition before leaving the Riverside Stadium but does not know why he fell ill. We don't really know the reasons yet. He was swiftly given oxygen and after a lengthy and concerning spell of treatment was taken on a stretcher to the dressing room.

Clarke, who had been substituted at half-time, was released from hospital on Teesside on Saturday evening, and will miss training this week in order to convalesce from a complaint as yet unspecified by the Championship club. "All our thoughts go to the lad Clarke".

Reflecting on his third goal for Leeds and second at Elland Road, Harrison beamed: "I am thrilled to get a goal at Elland Road".

Clarke made his Leeds debut against Brentford in October and has gone on to make 17 appearances this season. The result sees them back on top of the Championship with a one point lead over Norwich, who face Ipswich on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa's side earned a dramatic late point thanks to a Kalvin Phillips equaliser in the 11th-minute of stoppage time.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are now second in the table, trailing Norwich City by two points.
