Rami Malek spills on cringe-worthy Golden Globes snub by Nicole Kidman

Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek has opened up about the hilarious snub he received from actor Nicole Kidman during the Golden Globes award ceremony.

Rami Malek, who won best drama actor for his role as late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in 20th Century Fox film "Bohemian Rhapsody", dedicated his award to the British singer, who died of AIDS in 1991.

"Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime", Malek said as he accepted his first Golden Globe. "But in a moment like that, it was very awkward".

He added: "I have a feeling this is probably haunting me on the Internet".

Head to 1:58 to watch. She tweeted, "I've always been a huge Queen fan and I fell in love with the band even more after watching the incredible Bohemian Rhapsody".

Speaking to the crowd, Malek said, "My heart is pounding out of my chest right now".

Rami Malek may now be a Golden Globe-winning actor, but as he demonstrated last night, that doesn't save you from the awkwardness of trying to get the attention of one of Hollywood's most powerful women. Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor served as creative and musical consultants on the film.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom for the stars attached to A Star is Born, which was nominated for five awards including Best Actor, Picture, Actress and Director, as it walked away with Best Original Song for "Shallow". "We have our husband and our children and we have to find personal fulfilment and follow our dreams and we have to say, "I can do that" and, "I should be allowed to do that".

Malek also joked that, while his singing vocals in the film were mixed with those of a Freddie Mercury impersonator, he is done with karaoke.

"I have not seen that", he told host Kimmel.

The film also took home the Globe for best film drama, beating the likes of Black Panther, If Beale Street Could Talk, BlacKkKlansman and A Star is Born (2018).
