Just like all the other notebooks we talked about so far, the new Blade 15 supports Nvidia's new GeForce RTX graphics, going all the way up to the 2080 version. Basically, the new RTX cards have Nvidia's NVENC technology, which features an independent portion of the GPU focused exclusively on encoding video.

Unveiled during the firm's CES press conference on Sunday, the graphics card is based on the Pascal architecture that debuted with the high-end GeForce RTX 2070, GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. When Nvidia announced its Turing GPU architecture a year ago, it couldn't stop talking about ray tracing, which is some very cool technology that allows reflections and shadows in a digitally rendered environment (like a game) to behave as they would in real life.

The Dell G5 15 will start at $999 (about £780, AU$1,400), with the Dell G5 15 SE available as an upgrade option. The RTX 2060 will be available either directly from Nvidia or if you don't fancy doing it that way, there are plenty of third-party manufacturers to take your pick from. At the entry point, the GeForce RTX 2060 for laptops can perform faster than a desktop-class GTX 1070, NVIDIA says. Ray-tracing is a very demanding technology that can have quite a big impact on frame rate, but NVIDIA claims that a gaming PC with The RTX 2060 can run Battlefield V with ray tracing at 60 FPS.

Huang also announced 40 new laptop models from every major OEM in the world powered by RTX GPUs. Both of the laptops support eighth-gen Intel Core i7 processors, and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GPU.

"Laptops are the fastest growing gaming platform - and just getting started", said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, who introduced the lineup at CES. The company has also confirmed that buyers of the new card will receive their choice of Anthem or Battlefield V as a free game, while hardware partners releasing both stock and pre-overclocked models include Asus, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac.
