Ant is back: Emotional star reunited with Dec on Britain's Got Talent

Fighting back tears, Ant told the crowd: "Oh god, I'm really, really emotional now".

McPartlin, 43, stepped away from his TV roles last March after a drink-driving charge.

Dec then presented the rest of the series on his own, and later did the same for last year's Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity.

The audience cheered as the presenters hugged.

Last August, Ant said his recovery was going "very well" and that he was looking forward to getting back to work "in the New Year".

"What a great show to come back to, I'm thrilled, I'm over the moon".

Introducing Ant, Dec said: "We've got a bunch of acts backstage who are eager to get out here and perform for you". It would be like me not being with David (Walliams), I would be happy, but not happy - if that makes sense.

The pair arrived at the London Palladium this morning surrounded by excited fans.

Ant was convicted of drink-driving following a crash in March past year.

He was later fined £86,000 and given a 20-month driving ban after pleading guilty to drink driving.

ITV has confirmed that filming for Britain's Got Talent 2019 started today (Friday, January 18), meaning the start date of BGT 2019 is imminent.

A third fan wrote: "It's so good to see Ant back and to see these two back together".

The incident saw McPartlin put his career on pause having previously checked into rehab back in 2017 with a painkiller addiction.

He crashed his Mini Cooper while driving more than two times over the legal drink-driving limit.

Simon and Amanda have been the judges of every season of Britain's Got Talent, while David and Alesha have been on the show since season six in 2012.
