Martial, Pogba ruled out of key France Nations match

Anthony Martial played the full 90 minutes against Manchester City on Sunday meaning he picked up the injury during the derby.

Deschamps has been happy with Lacazette's return to form though initially favoured Martial - though the Manchester United star was not passed fit by France's doctors upon reporting to Clairefontaine.

They also face Uruguay in a friendly four days later.

Just two hours later, though, France have confirmed that the Gunners marksman will not answer the call of his country following discussions between his country and club's medical officials.

But the withdrawal of Manchester United pair Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial saw Lacazette called-up alongside Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko.

The newspaper says the 27-year-old doesn't want to make the injury worse by playing for France during their upcoming Nations League group stage game with Holland or their friendly with Uruguay next week.

Alassane Plea, the Borussia Monchengladbach forward who has scored eight goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances this season including a hat-trick during the weekend win over Werder Bremen, has been selected for his maiden worldwide call-up as a result.

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy (knee) has also withdrawn from the squad and will be replaced by Lyon full-back Ferland Mendy. Martial last played for France in March a 3-1 win over Russian Federation, and was not selected for the World Cup, which his teammates won in July.

Lacazette will now be assessed ahead of Arsenal's Premier League fixture at Bournemouth on November 25.

Lacazette's last cap came in November 2017's draw to Germany and Sissoko has not featured in an global game since the victory over Belarus last October.
