Samsung's Galaxy Book 2 ditches Intel for a Snapdragon 850 chip

Samsung's Galaxy Book 2 ditches Intel for a Snapdragon 850 chip

The new Galaxy Book 2 Samsung's latest attempt to nail the 2-in-1 device. The new "always on, always connected" PC/tablet packs 12-inch 2160×1440 Super AMOLED display with Gigabit LTE connectivity. More controversially, perhaps, Samsung has dumped Intel's silicon for Qualcomm's ARM-based Snapdragon 850 chipset.

"Paired with Samsung Dex and S Pen, Galaxy Tab S4 is designed for those who need something portable like a tablet yet capable like a PC", Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Mobile Business, Samsung India, told reporters here. The Tab S4 comes with three accessories complementing it - Keyboard Book Cover, Book Cover and Pogo Charging dock. There is no trackpad in the Keyboard Cover, so you'll have to rely on the S Pen, touchscreen or can add a Bluetooth mouse.

That makes it taller, thicker and heavier than the Galaxy Tab S3 (which has a smaller 9.7-inch display), and also thicker and heavier (but not as tall or wide) as the iPad Pro 10.5.

It's possible that the chip isn't as powerful compared to the Core i5 we tested in the original Galaxy Book - we'll benchmark it when we get a review sample - but it has other benefits.

The Galaxy Tab S4 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC, and packs 4GB of RAM along with either 64GB or 256GB of internal storage depending on the model.

And as you can guess from where this device will be sold, it does feature LTE connectivity. It supports USB Type-C 3.1 (Gen 1) adaptive fast charging. Back at MWC 2017, the firm launched the original Surface Book, which featured a 7th-gen Intel Core i5 processor.

The Samsung Galaxy Book2 boasts multi-workday battery life, allowing you to spend more time being productive or entertained, and less time searching for an outlet. Another striking difference is that it comes with Windows 10 S out of the gate, signal the wump wump's. The speaker delivers high quality sound, has eight microphones to be able to pick up voice commands from across the room.

The Galaxy Tab S4 is launched at a price of Rs 57,900 and will be available from October 18, 2018 onwards in Black and Gray colors on Samsung Online Shop and leading offline retail stores.
