Pipe Bomb Suspect Was Spinning Records As FBI Closed In

That break allowed authorities to narrow their search, which - combined with DNA and fingerprint samples left on a package sent to Rep. Maxine Waters and cell phone geolocation information - led to Cesar Sayoc, even as new devices were being found in NY and California.

A former Democratic congressional aide and current political commentator said she reported mail bombing suspect Cesar Sayoc for Twitter threats two weeks ago, but the social media site dismissed the report, according to USA Today. He faces 58 years in federal prison.

"We will not tolerate such lawlessness, especially political violence", he said. Authorities have recovered a cellphone, a laptop computer and other electronic devices from Sayoc.

Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Christopher Wray confirmed the suspect is 56-year-old Florida resident Cesar Sayoc.

The arrest of a Florida man fell in line with Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen's comments Thursday, in an interview with Fox News Channel, acknowledging that some of packages originated in Florida.

The feds said Sayoc's fingerprint and DNAwere found on some of the mail bombs he sent out. (1830 GMT), a department spokeswoman said.

"We must never allow political violence to take root in America, can not let it happen", Mr. Trump said.

Texas Democratic strategist Jason Stanford said that Trump's harsh rhetoric against Democrats was a motivating factor for the suspect, "His words have consequences", he said.

"That image, CNN Sucks - of course the president didn't direct this, he's not technically responsible for it", Bash said.

Sayoc, who seemed to be living out of a van in Aventura, Florida, was taken into custody on a day when four more explosive packages were found, including two intended for USA senators, both Democrats. Just two days earlier, CNN's offices in NY were evacuated when the package for Brennan, addressed to him at the network, was found in the post room.

None of the devices detonated and no one has been hurt.

8 a.m.: A worker at a midtown Manhattan postal facility alerts authorities to a package intended for former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and addressed to CNN's New York City offices. Multiple photos on his Facebook page shows Sayoc wearing a red Make American Great Again baseball cap.

Marc Weiss, a 56-year-old building superintendent who has lived in the neighbourhood for eight years, said he'd seen Mr Sayoc every morning at 6:00am for the last four or five months, but he'd never said hello. Officials say Sayoc's white van is covered in pro-Trump stickers and anit-democratic stickers.

All the people targeted by the suspicious packages have often been maligned by right-wing critics.

Other targets include former Vice President Joe Biden, and critics of Donald Trump including Waters, actor-director Robert De Niro, and Sens.

The suspect was arrested in connection to the string of pipe bombs mailed to prominent Democrats across the country. We've had Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson try and kill scores of Republican congressmen in 2017; Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) was shot and nearly died in the assault.

In 2002, Sayoc told a Florida Power and Light call operator that "FPL will get what they deserve and will be worse than 9/11", according to court documents.
