Palestinian kills two Israelis in West Bank shooting

The Palestinian economy is heavily restricted under Israeli military rule, forcing tens of thousands of Palestinians to seek work in Israel as well as Jewish settlements.

Laborer Mohamed Hassan, for his part, said workers were now forced to wait "for hours" - even though they had work permits - until being allowed to enter their places of employment on the settlement.

He declared that no Israeli is safe until the Palestinian people gain their "rights" to their "homeland".

Barkan has been touted as a rare example of Israeli-Palestinians coexistence.

He said it appeared it was a "lone-wolf attack". Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no doubts that the perpetrators of the attack "will be caught and put to justice".

A 12-year-old boy was among the dead.

Moshe Lev-Ran, an export manager at a company whose factory is located next to the scene of the attack, said he doubted the official account.

"This was a very severe terrorist attack in which two Israelis were brutally murdered and a citizen was also wounded", Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting.

On Friday, Three Palestinians including a 14-year-old boy were killed by Israeli fire on Friday on the Gaza border, as clashes erupted with security forces during protests, the enclave's health ministry said.

The woman who was killed in the attack was identified as Kim Levengrond Yehezkel, 28, from Rosh Ha'ayin, and the man was named as Ziv Hajbi, 35, from Rishon Lezion.

On Sunday, the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas praised the attack, calling it a "message to young people of the West Bank and Gaza who are under siege".

A woman aged 54 was also found wounded, the medical services said.

Most countries consider settlements that Israel has built on land occupied in the 1967 Middle East war as illegal.

More than 50 Israelis and several foreign nationals have been killed since late 2015 in a series of stabbings, shootings and car-ramming attacks, predominantly by Palestinians or Israeli Arabs.
