Microsoft Surface Pro 6 details leaked in an un-boxing video

Microsoft is having a Surface event today, where they are expected to release updates to the Surface Pro, Surface Studio and Surface Laptop range.

The 6th version of the Surface Pro will likely appear at the event, coming with numerous same changes we'll see in other devices below.

As spotted by Twitter user WalkingCat, Microsoft is holding an event in Auckland, New Zealand on October 16 with a description that says that Surface is going "back to black" - which is also the name of the event itself. Maybe even two new colors, including Black. At least, until Microsoft's official event that will be taking place on 2 October (3 October for us).

Frankly, I'm not sure if such minimal changes warrant giving the name Surface Pro 6 to. Pricing on both the Surface Pro (6th edition) and the Surface Laptop (2nd edition) will stay nearly identical. The new model will keep the same body and won't get an USB-C port like on the Surface Go or the Surface Book 2, although not everyone agrees. A new rumor has surfaced ahead of tomorrow's event, and the news is a bit unexpected.

We've not seen any significant leaks of the Surface Studio 2 just yet, but the time is right for an update. Hopefully, however, this is all prelude to some price cuts that bring the Surface Laptop down to a price worth paying for. As per a WinFuture report, Microsoft will launch the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 with some specification bumps. The base Surface Laptop 2 is expected to pack 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5 processor, and 128GB of storage. Like the Surface Laptop 2, the device will be available with the consumer version of Windows 10 in S-Mode. This version of the device will also likely come in black. This rumor claims that Microsoft is sticking with the mini DisplayPort and Surface Connector to connect to displays and charge the device. Microsoft previously said this Summer that the LTE variant would be available later this year, and the Redmond giant might want to take advantage on the upcoming holiday season to sell more units of its most affordable Surface model.
