Florida man arrested in string of bomb packages

At a news conference Thursday, officials in NY would not discuss possible motives, or details on how the packages found their way into the USA postal system.

"No one can say there were fake bombs, they were risky", he said.

Trump tweeted Thursday much of the anger in society is caused by the "Mainstream Media".

Fiori says within minutes he heard a small explosion, probably a device police use to distract people.

Most of the intended recipients were high-profile Democrats and all were known to be outspoken critics of Trump, foils for his political rhetoric or both. He has called on people to vote at the midterm elections too.

The FBI said the packages found so far had shared characteristics, including manila envelopes with bubble-wrapped interiors.

The incidents come less than two weeks before the United States mid-term elections, with politics highly polarised. Even with the sender still unknown, politicians from both parties used the moment to decry a toxic political climate and lay blame.

USA media reports said the arrest was also made in the state.

Since then, packages have been intercepted that were addressed to Obama, Hillary Clinton, Biden, former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, actor Robert De Niro, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and former Attorney-General Eric Holder.

"Stop blaming others. Look in the mirror". The connection between this attack and hateful, violence-encouraging rhetoric is not hard to see. The 75-year-old actor was ultimately censored by the telecast for his now-infamous comment, "F- Trump".

The most recent ones on Friday in California, Florida and NY.

"The windows of Sayoc's van were covered with images including images critical of CNN", the complaint said.

Law enforcement officials described the devices as PVC pipes stuffed with what appeared to be fireworks powder and glass.

Earlier Friday, the Justice Department had erroneously said Sayoc could face up to 58 years in prison.

The announcement of the charges followed the discovery Friday of more packages bound for political foes of Trump.

The tape on the pipe is "an investigator's dream", he said, recalling a case in Texas that was solved because the fibers on the tape were traced to the bomber's dog.

"This is someone sitting down and spending time thinking about what they're going to do to someone else". It remains unclear if this man acted alone or had help, this person said.

Investigators began closing in on Sayoc Thursday, as investigators traced the packages' path to South Florida, and recovered evidence inside at least one of the packages pointing to him.

The FBI is doing a nationwide manhunt for whoever is sending the pipe bomb packages. Authorities covered the vehicle with a blue tarp and took it away on the back of a flatbed truck.

The FBI reported an 11th suspicious package was discovered overnight in Florida, addressed to Democrat Sen.

De Niro said he is thankful no one was hurt. They all also had a half-dozen Forever stamps, computer-printed address labels and return addresses bearing the misspelled name of Wasserman Schultz, who chaired the Democratic National Committee during part of the 2016 presidential campaign.

The package addressed Brennan was sent to CNN's New York City bureau, sparking an evacuation Wednesday.

The first bomb discovered was delivered Monday to the suburban NY compound of Soros, a major contributor to Democratic causes.

'Do you see how nice I'm behaving?'

Clapper, who is a commentator on CNN, called in to the cable network to say on the air, "This is definitely domestic terrorism".

Two suspect packages were sent to California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, one intended for her office in the nation's capital and the other for her home district office.

One thing is for sure: the two new targets announced Thursday, are also very hostile to Trump: the actor starred Robert de Niro, who is seen to send a spacecraft potentially explosive through the offices of his production company, has participated in many demonstrations anti-Trump. It was found at a New York City postal facility and was similar to the other packages, the official added.
