Duke and Duchess meet Jacinda Ardern as they arrive in New Zealand

David Beckham was spotted among the crowd at the final Invictus Games event in Sydney - with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also in attendance.

Prince Harry and former Suits actress Meghan met with New Zealand Leader of the Opposition Simon Bridges at Government House in Wellington.

She described selecting the piece at Buckingham Palace in the run-up to her wedding to Prince Harry in May, on which she gained the title Duchess of Sussex and formally joined the royal family.

Leaving behind the warmth of Australia and the Pacific for cooler climates, Prince Harry and Meghan were greeted by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and a cheering crowd upon their landing in Wellington on Sunday.

They will finish their 16-day tour across the Australia, Tonga and Fiji, and New Zealand on Wednesday.

Another competitor acknowledged at the ceremony was New Zealander, George Nepata, the first tetraplegic to compete at Invictus.

When Harry and Meghan Wednesday, the New Zealand government donated $5,000 to Pillars in lieu of a gift. Both had remembrance poppy pins on their chests.

Governor-General (Dame) Pasty Reddy welcomed the royals to her home and, as they stepped onto the grass in front of the colonial building, the Maori welcome or Powhiri began. She said Harry responded: "What, waiting around at Government House in the cold?" and the couple both laughed.

While interest in their first major overseas tour since marrying in May was already high before the duke and duchess arrived, the baby news took it to another level.

Next, the royals will be laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior before visiting the newly-unveiled UK War Memorial at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. New Zealand became the first country in the world where women could vote in parliamentary elections in 1893.

Prince Harry also looked dapper for the occasion.

They will also visit Auckland and Abel Tasman National Park.

According to the publication, the royal couple was "hosted privately" at the five-star Vatuvara Private Islands resort.

"So bravo New Zealand, for championing this right a hundred and twenty-five years ago and for all the people that this effort has paved the way for globally".
