Julie Chen Is Leaving 'The Talk' Amidst Les Moonves Controversy

According to CNN, two sources close to Chen said she will be leaving the panel chat show "effective immediately".

Julie Chen is leaving her CBS hosting job at The Talk in support of her shamed husband Les Moonves.

Julie Chen, wife of former CBS Corp.

She had never before used her husband's last name on the program.

News of Chen's Talk resignation comes a little more than a week after Chen's husband Les Moonves was sacked as CBS longtime CEO amid a wave of sexual misconduct allegations.

She was also absent from "The Talk" Monday, fueling rumors of her departure. A source told the publication that while it's unclear whether it was her decision or not to step down from the show, they "wouldn't be surprised" if she was asked to leave.

She said at the time she was taking "a few days off" to be with her family, but reappeared only on Thursday's episode of CBS reality series "Big Brother", which she also hosts.

"I would release a statement saying, 'I feel as though I would be too much of a distraction sitting at the table with the ladies and too much of a distraction for staff and everyone else".

Chen, 48, did not directly address any of the controversy surrounding her husband or his departure from CBS as chairman and CEO.

'He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. Whether or not she will return to host the next installment of Big Brother Celebrity or Big Brother 21 (presuming that Big Brother gets renewed) is up in the air. "I fully support my husband and stand behind him".

Reps for CBS and Chen did not get back to us.

She publicly supported Moonves, who has denied the allegations, after a first round of accusations last month, saying: "Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader".
