Paul signs huge Rockets deal, George and Durant staying put

As many keep their finger on the pulse of the whirlwind that is the free agency period in the National Basketball Association, new reports have surfaced that Kevin Durant has agreed to a deal that will keep him with the Golden State Warriors for a season or two. But this time, it benefits him first and foremost, though: he maintains flexibility heading into a more robust 2019 free agent summer and sets himself up to sign an estimated $220 million deal over five years with Golden State should he opt to stay. ESPN reported the Croatian native had agreed to a one-year deal worth $6.5 million.

Durant will be top of many teams' wish lists if, as his deal indicates, he plans on testing his value on the open market after a three-year stay with the Warriors.

Durant and the Warriors agreed to terms on a two-year, $61.5 million contract Sunday, Shams Charania of Yahoo reports.

The deal reportedly is worth $148 million and does not include a player option for the fifth year, as many similar deals do.

"I just want him to sign a deal", Myers said (via The Athletic). The $5 million savings this year offsets the $5.3 million midlevel tax if Golden State elects to use it. Durant would save the Warriors $20 million in projected luxury-tax costs. The contract will be made official July 7, at the end of the NBA's moratorium period.

This is the third time in eight years James has changed teams.

-The New Orleans Pelicans and Lakers each called center DeMarcus Cousins after free agency began and Cousins is expected to schedule meetings with both teams, according to The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears. He shot 51.6 percent from the field, 41.9 percent from three-point range and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.

Robinson averaged 4.1 points and 14.7 minutes a game last season for Indiana.

Lastly, the Warriors shared an awkward moment during the team's championship parade involving Durant's pending free agency.

In his previous two-year contract with Golden State he accepted $10 million less than the max salary.

"Last year, you told Steph he can have any contract he wants, too ..." "Yeah, well that was different", he said.

During that exchange, Durant went from playfully laughing to shaking his head in confusion.

"Why was that even a discussion?" "For sure, we're going to do this thing again".

This is only the beginning of free agency frenzy and it is far from over.
