Paul George re-signing with Thunder

Paul George re-signing with Thunder

ESPN is reporting that George met with team management and the ownership group Saturday night and they agreed to a four-year, $137 million deal with a player option. The deal reportedly carries a player option on the final season. While the possibility remains that he could now sign a max contract with the Thunder, he has also been linked to his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. It is clear that the party was another attempt to convince George to stay in OKC.

"At the end of the day, that's what I want to do".

George didn't even give the Lakers a meeting.

George was traded to the Thunder nearly a year ago after telling the Indiana Pacers he would not re-sign with them. His future is under the control of the San Antonio Spurs front office, which can determine where he would be traded - if they choose to deal him at all.

Barring a trade, there's no chance George teams up with LeBron anywhere other than with the Thunder.

Most of that has to do with LeBron James, another moving piece we now have to wonder if L.A.is his best destination. While there was a ton of speculation about George heading home to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson and company dodged a bullet by not bringing PG to LA. However, the Cavs still have time to try and build a contender around him before free agency picks up - though that window appears to be tight.

George is a five-time All-Star who just turned 28. One way the Thunder can avoid this tax hit is by moving on from the 34-year-old, who is set to make $27,928,140 next season after opting into his contract.

People a lot smarter than me are going to break this whole mess down more thoroughly over the next week.

Grant averaged 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season. In the first round of the playoffs, he averaged 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three.
