LeBron James is joining the Lakers: What is your reaction?

Fellow Laker Kyle Kuzma tweeted his welcome to Los Angeles.

The Lakers have the most cap space of any National Basketball Association team in the league, giving them ultimate flexibility when constructing a team for next season.According to Hoops Rumors, a free agent like LeBron James, i.e. any player with 10+ years of experience, can make a max salary of $35.35 million next season. With Cousins coming off an injury, the Lakers may be able to get Cousins at a discount.

Shortly after LeBron's agency broke the news of James signing with the Lakers, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Leonard remains focused on playing for L.A.

This Summer of LeBron was barely a fling. Los Angeles might not look like a title contender now, especially in a world where the Golden State Warriors exist, but - in James' estimation, presumably - it will.

It was all different this time.

The Philadelphia 76ers, whose young star Ben Simmons has the same agent as James, were also in the hunt with James, hoping to build a potential triple threat alongside the Australian and Cameroon forward Joel Embiid.

James and Bryant were Olympic teammates and there has been a perceived rivalry between the pair of alpha males.

Los Angeles also provides James with a larger platform for his business interests and social activism. He already owns two homes in Southern California and has a film production company.

James, born in Akron and drafted No. 1 by the Cavs in 2003, is leaving the Cavs for the second time in eight seasons.

The 33-year-old had previously said he wanted to finish his career in OH, and although he's leaving home again, Cleveland fans are more forgiving after he ended the city's 52-year sports championship drought in 2016.

"Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons. This will always be home". It would be hard to justify any bitterness on the part of fans in Cleveland.

Maybe Leonard will be a Laker before long. Apparently he does, and he is set to become a free agent after next season if the Spurs don't trade him sooner. While in Los Angeles following a family vacation, he spoke to Cavs general manager Koby Altman moments after free agency opened on Sunday, and it appears that was more a courtesy than a chance for Cleveland to make one last pitch.

The bonanza started Saturday night when Durant made a decision to sign a two-year, $61.5 million deal with the stay with the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors, one where he'll make $30.5 million this season.

He flew to Los Angeles on Saturday, creating a frenzy without saying a word.

James gave Cleveland something to remember in his final season. He's played his entire career in the Eastern Conference.

In the end, James believed it was the right situation for him. With his destination unclear, the Lakers would likely gravitate toward a more aggressive move to assemble a team that can take on the Golden State Warriors.
